Rocky River Nature Center Summer Camp Assistant Service-Learning Position
Position Description
The Rocky River Nature Center internship provides a unique opportunity for hands-on experience in environmental education and recreation. The Intern will work closely with experienced naturalists to connect our youngest visitors to nature through summer camp experiences.
Schedule
- Date(s): May 19, 2026 – August 15, 2026 (flexible)
- Monday through Friday and weekend opportunities are available.
- A minimum commitment of 10 days (50 hours) is required.
- Time: 9:30 am – 5:15 pm (flexible)

Responsibilities and Requirements
Key Responsibilities and activities may include (but are not limited to):
- Working with children between the ages of 5 and 10 years old
- Assisting with various summer camp programs
- Providing educational and recreational experiences for camp participants
- Assisting with various small and large group activities.
- Enforcing and following safety guidelines associated with the camp program
- Reporting camper concerns to camp leadership to resolve issues
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a college or university with a focus in environmental education, education, parks/recreation or similar.
- Must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license and have own transportation
- Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Comfortable lifting at least 25 lbs.
