Legal Research Intern

Role Overview
Wickard.ai seeks a Legal Research Intern to support research, analysis, and content development related to artificial intelligence, legal technology, and emerging regulatory frameworks. The intern will assist with legal research projects, educational materials, publications, and strategic initiatives supporting Wickard’s programs and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Research and Analysis
  • Conduct legal research on AI regulation, case law, administrative guidance, ethics opinions, and technology-related legal issues
  • Track developments in federal and state legislation, agency actions, and court decisions affecting AI and legal practice
  • Prepare concise research memoranda, summaries, and issue briefs for internal and external use
  • Assist in verifying citations and authorities for publications, presentations, and educational materials

Content and Program Support

  • Support development of CLE materials, course content, and training resources
  • Assist with drafting background sections, legal explanations, and supporting materials for presentations and publications
  • Help prepare research summaries for newsletters, articles, and policy commentary

Strategic Projects

  • Conduct comparative research on institutional policies, vendor practices, and legal AI adoption trends
  • Assist with special research initiatives involving courts, law firms, or academic programs
  • Support preparation of briefing materials for meetings, partnerships, or speaking engagements

Qualifications

Required

  • Current law student or recent law graduate
  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Familiarity with primary and secondary legal research sources (Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg, or equivalent)
  • Ability to synthesize complex legal issues into clear, concise written work
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, technology law, or legal innovation

Preferred

  • Coursework or demonstrated interest in AI law, privacy, intellectual property, administrative law, or legal ethics
  • Experience with law review, journal work, or substantial legal writing
  • Experience cite-checking or Bluebook editing
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple assignments
