Georgia Interfaith Power and Light (GIPL) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that inspires and equips communities of faith to organize, implement practical climate solutions, and advocate across Georgia on issues of climate change, environmental justice, and community resilience. Born out of the national Interfaith Power and Light movement, GIPL envisions a Georgia where all people can flourish in a healthy environment, a stable climate, and resilient communities.

Position Description 

This is a newly designed role. Under the supervision of the Communications Manager, the Communications Associate executes communications priorities aligned with GIPL’s strategic goals and approved marketing frameworks.

The Communications Associate provides creative and operational support that connects GIPL’s commitments to justice, environmentalism, and spirituality through disciplined digital strategy and multimedia storytelling.

This position works collaboratively with program staff and organizational leadership to support priority initiatives through coordinated communications. The role balances content creation with analytics, alignment, and performance tracking to support measurable engagement and participation.

The position is based in GIPL’s Atlanta-area office, with flexibility for some remote work. Some evening and weekend work is required for event support.

Core Responsibilities

Digital Strategy and Social Media

  • Assist in the development and implementation of a rolling three-month social media content calendar aligned with organizational priorities
  • Manage daily and weekly posts across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky, TikTok, and others as appropriate
  • Support measurable growth in engagement, participation, and digital reach

Creative Content Development

  • Record, collect, edit, catalog, and publish photography and videography of priority programs and outreach efforts
  • Design graphics and digital materials using Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva
  • Develop digital case studies and storytelling materials for major initiatives
  • Create social media toolkits for events and campaigns

Website & Email Communications

  • Maintain and refresh website content and SquareSpace bio.site
  • Create and schedule email campaigns to support program events
  • Support online action creation, event registration pages, and digital engagement tools

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track digital analytics and campaign performance
  • Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes
  • Participate in internal review processes to ensure campaigns and creative outputs align with organizational messaging standards and strategic priorities

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with program, development, and organizing staff to ensure coordinated messaging
  • Support the implementation of organization-wide marketing standards and reporting rhythms

Qualifications 

Preferred

  • 1 - 3 years of marketing/communication experience
  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, advertising, communication, or related field.
  • Proficiency in working and organizing with and within faith communities and/or environmental organizations.
  • Excellent written communication.
  • Strong photography and videography skills, as well as experience in visual storytelling.
  • Graphic design experience and an ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud programs as well as Canva for the creation of content.
  • Excellent technical skills related to Microsoft Office, Google Drive, etc.
  • Familiarity with EveryAction or other CRM / database platforms
  • Passion and excitement for working on environmental issues, particularly the issues of climate change, environmental justice, clean energy, and conservation.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, religions, and political beliefs.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively collaborating with a diverse team, while also independently motivated. 
  • Fastidious and able to meet established goals within tight time frames.

Required

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Reliable personal vehicle and willingness to use it for work-related travel (mileage reimbursement provided)
  • Personal cell phone with mobile hotspot capability (stipend provided)
  • Reliable home internet access to support remote work (stipend provided)

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time position requiring work some evenings and weekends for event support. Salary for this position ranges between $48,000 - 50,000 per year based on experience. Benefits include comprehensive health/disability/life insurance, retirement plan with employer match, travel reimbursement, cell phone/internet stipend, and paid vacation, holiday, and sick leave.
