Pay Range: $87,345-$112,238.25, based on qualifications and experience*

SUMMARY:
Responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the K-12 Wellness curriculum and instruction, including physical education (PE), health education, and human growth and development. Work closely with administrators, teachers, and other educational professionals to ensure alignment with district goals and state standards, while fostering a culture of academic excellence through effective professional learning and holistic student well-being.
JOB TASKS:
1. Lead implementation of high-quality PE and Health curricula with a focus on physical literacy, lifetime fitness, and health skills (e.g., self-management, advocacy, and decision-making). Stay current on national (SHAPE America) and state standards.
2. Ensure vertical alignment of wellness from kindergarten through grade 12, ensuring a cohesive progression of motor skills, social-emotional learning, and health concepts. Work with department leads, teachers, and administrators to implement performance-based instructional routines.
3. Oversee the curriculum and delivery of Human Growth and Development (HGD), ensuring content is age-appropriate, medically accurate, and compliant with state mandates and district policies regarding parental notification and op-out procedures.
4. Monitor and assess the integrity of curriculum implementation, providing ongoing support and guidance to building to ensure equitable access to health-literacy practices.
5. Manage district-wide budgets allocated for wellness to ensure equitable distribution of funds.
6. Design and facilitate high-quality professional learning focused on inclusive PE practices, skills-based health education, and the sensitive delivery of HGD and reproductive health topics.
7. Develop a group of school-based wellness content leaders to build capacity around the integration of adopted curriculum and specialized resources in their respective learning communities.
8. Coach and mentor teacher leaders to improve instructional practices and enhance curriculum delivery, specifically focusing on differentiated instruction to support students of all abilities.
9. Foster collaboration among teacher leaders to ensure coherence in curriculum implementation across schools and vertical alignment from elementary to middle and middle to high school.
10. Collaborate with teacher leaders and administrators to develop and implement formative and summative assessment practices that align with state physical fitness testing and health literacy benchmarks.
11. Oversee the selection and maintenance of specialized wellness equipment (e.g., fitness trackers, PE equipment, and climbing walls) and ensure facility safety standards are met.
12. Coordinate district-wide events such as the elementary track meet and other events as appropriate.
13. Serve as the primary point of contact for K-12 wellness within the district, working closely with school leaders, teacher leaders, instructional staff, and community health partners.
14. Participate in district-wide committees and workgroups to ensure that curriculum decision support the overall education mission and strategic plan of Poudre School District.
15. Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the integration of mindfulness, nutrition education, and community-based physical activity partnerships.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred
• Experience instructing students in a classroom setting required
• Instructional coaching experience preferred
• Leadership at school or district level preferred
• Criminal background check required for hire
• Valid US driver’s license
• Valid Colorado teaching or special service provider license with appropriate endorsement preferred
• Colorado Principal or Administrator’s License preferred
