Job Overview:
The Manager, Marketing & Communications, is responsible for supporting the development and execution of marketing, communication and promotional campaigns. The manager will work with internal and external partners to create and execute marketing materials that drive revenue and brand reputation goals.
The manager will develop digital advertising assets to maximize marketing budget and outreach with results-driven strategies. The manager will work within the department budget and messaging calendar, leveraging available digital, social, web and media assets to increase awareness, build brand reputation and drive revenue streams, including ticket, program and Membership sales. A major part of this role will be connecting disparate systems and data sources together to help the marketing team and broader organization understand the effectiveness of marketing tactics across channels and audiences. Additionally, this member will contribute to the many ways the Freedom Center engages audiences across print and digital media, which includes website maintenance and content, social media planning and publication, earned media and paid advertising.
Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification):
· 2-4 years’ experience in marketing, communications or PR
· Degree from accredited college or university; degrees in Marketing, Communications, and adjacent multimedia or digital studies preferred
· Excellent storyteller with a focus on pinpointing and delivering key messages
· Experience managing digital ads
· Experience working with email marketing systems and content management systems
· Experience in Google Analytics Suite and sharing data and action items across teams
· Excellent written and oral communications skills
· Effective collaborator with a commitment to institutional success by working across departments to achieve goals
· High sense of urgency and adept at working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
· Personal commitment to accountability, taking pride in your work
· Strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
· Nonprofit or museum experience a plus
· Multimedia design skills a plus
· HTML/CSS experience a plus
Essential Duties:
Content Strategy & Creation (33%)
- Contribute to overall marketing strategy by contributing new ideas, planning for effective execution and developing new audiences across print and digital media.
- Assist with execution of tactics across overarching marketing, exhibition and program calendars.
- Capture stories and images to tell the Freedom Center’s story across multiple print and digital channels.
Analytics, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement (33%)
- Produce regular reporting on Google Analytics, Google Ads and surveys to benchmark institutional goals
- Leverage data across departments to cultivate shared understanding of marketing tactic effectiveness across audiences.
- Track and report on email, social media and other digital metrics to quantify and refine message effectiveness.
- Manage and update email audience lists and target segments
Digital Marketing: Web, Email and SEO (34%)
- Maintain and update freedomcenter.org in partnership with other marketing team members
- Write, design and distribute email communications to Freedom Center audience lists.
