You are:
The Environmental Scientist will be a key contributor in delivering comprehensive environmental compliance services to a diverse range of clients. We are seeking a high-achieving, motivated person with a strong drive to succeed and a genuine desire to learn and grow. This position collaborates closely with Anderson’s & Co. engineers and industrial clients across the Southeast to provide high-quality environmental compliance support. It also requires a keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You will become the go-to environmental compliance expert, providing guidance and support to our engineers and organization.
Responsibilities include:
- Interpret and apply NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) stormwater permit requirements and share this expertise with engineers and technicians across the organization.
- Analyze laboratory results against permit limits to identify potential compliance issues.
- Prepare and draft environmental permits for industrial clients across multiple states, including stormwater, air quality, and other regulatory permits.
- Conduct comprehensive research on permit requirements and applicable regulations across multiple permit types and jurisdictions.
- Serve as the primary client contact, providing personalized support and guidance throughout every phase of the permitting process.
- Draft detailed environmental reports and technical documentation for clients to submit to relevant regulatory authorities.
- Perform comprehensive field work, including stormwater sampling, quarterly environmental site inspections, and annual comprehensive site inspections
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience writing clear, well-structured reports for technical, regulatory, or professional audiences
- Experience researching legal language and requirements for environmental regulations at industrial sites
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in environmental compliance or technical writing
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Civil or Environmental Engineering, etc.)
- Excellent written communication and editing abilities
- Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality control
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients, including responding to inquiries, clarifying requirements, and incorporating client feedback
Work Environment & Schedule
- Location: In-office position in Buckhead, Atlanta, GA, with some field work required.
- Schedule: Full-time, standard business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
