Audio-Visual Specialist

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three (3) years of experience in operating audio-visual equipment including stage lighting, multimedia coordination and sound support. 

Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree or higher, plus one (1) year of work experience in operating audio-visual equipment including stage lighting, multi-media coordination and sound support

NOTE: Physical day-to-day responsibilities for this title may include frequently lifts and carries up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand and walk for extended or continuous periods of time. Ability to quickly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with one's body, arms, and/or legs. Ability to make precisely coordinated movements with one's fingers. Ability to move one's hands and arms to grasp or manipulate objects. Ability to tolerate heights while working

These positions are covered under the terms of the City’s collective bargaining agreement with American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).  Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit (1, 3, 4 & 5) are eligible to bid on these positions.

 

DUTIES: This position serves as frontline technical support for theatrical performances, in-person and virtual departmental programs, and private events. Operates a wide variety of audio-visual equipment (e.g., video cameras, video players, projectors, mixing boards, amplifiers, tuners). Sets up equipment and creates lighting plans in accordance with project specifications. Runs audio-visual displays including multi-image shows for performances, exhibits and programs. Sets up and strikes equipment in remote locations. Manages time across load-ins, rehearsals, and transitions. Adapts equipment and lighting plans to unforeseen production problems and remains calm, adaptable, and solutions-focused under pressure. Performs minor and routine repairs of audio-visual equipment. Arranges for service and maintenance of equipment by vendors. Serves as technical liaison with private companies using city facilities for production. Assists in the selection and purchase of audio-visual equipment. Maintains an inventory of audio-visual and lighting equipment. Oversees and monitors the use of related equipment for departmental programs and events, as required.  Communicates clearly with clients, partners, presenters, performers, and event planners during meetings and events. Able to explain AV capabilities in accessible language. Supports a welcoming atmosphere.

LOCATION: HWLC- Corporate and Private Events 400 S. State Street

DAYS OFF: Two days off                                                      

SHIFT: Sunday- Saturday

HOURS: 37.50 hours per week to be scheduled between the hours of 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
