Position Overview:
Young's Jersey Dairy is seeking a talented and passionate Ice Cream and Cheese Production Manager to lead our production team and drive the development of innovative flavors and cheese varieties. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of culinary creativity, production management expertise, and marketing savvy. They will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of ice cream and cheese production, from recipe development to packaging, while also engaging with customers to promote and sample our products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ice Cream & Cheese Innovation and Growth
   • Develop new cheese varieties (new to Young’s, and maybe new ever) and explore creative ways to grow sales
   • Work with Young’s Event Center for paid cheese tasting events, paired with local wineries and breweries
   • Develop new ice cream flavors and events to celebrate the amazing experiences Young’s ice cream can create
   • Help attract more Guests to Young’s
2. Production Management:
   • Oversee all aspects of ice cream and cheese production, ensuring quality, consistency, and efficiency
   • Manage inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of ingredients
3. Recipe Development:
   • Create and implement a plan to simplify our recipe ingredients to reduce the use of artificial and processed items
   • Conduct organized tastings of Staff and Guests to gather feedback to refine recipes and perfect flavor profiles
   • Develop a plan to test the viability of Young’s producing it’s own mix using milk produced at least in part from the farm
4. Quality Control:
   • Implement and maintain consistent quality controls to uphold the company's reputation for excellence
   • Conduct regular inspections and tastings to ensure product consistency and freshness
5. Guest Engagement & Storytelling:
   • Engage with Guests at Young’s, special events and local events to promote our products and provide sampling opportunities
   • Educate customers about our products, ingredients, and production methods to enhance their experience and encourage repeat business 
   • Be a storytelling guide on our Cheese & Ice Cream Storytelling Tours at the Dairy Store
6. Marketing Support:
   • Work with the marketing team to help develop promotional materials and campaigns to drive sales and brand awareness
   • Participate in marketing events, including tastings, demos, and off site talks to showcase our products and connect with consumers
7. Leadership & Management
   • Manage a team fostering productivity, quality and showmanship to achieve sales and quality goals
   • Work closely with other managers to build cross-departmental success
   • Work with various regulatory departments to keep Young’s in compliance with the rules. Understand the regulatory environment and how it may affect us as our business evolves

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, Culinary Arts, or related field preferred.
• Experience in food production management, with a focus on dairy products preferred
• Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating delicious flavors and unique cheese varieties
• Curiosity about cheese and ice cream flavors and production 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and team members
• Basic knowledge of marketing principles and strategies, with a willingness to learn and contribute and coordinate marketing initiatives
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and food safety
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and adapt to changing priorities
