Scoutcraft/Outdoor Skills Director

Montana Council Scouting America Summer Camps are seeking staff for our camp, Camp Melita Island on Flathead Lake (near Polson, Montana). Montana Council provides a summer camp experience for youth, creating a culture of safety and fun. We aim to provide an enjoyable and meaningful camp experience for Scouts, Adult Leaders, and Staff.
 

Our camp has the following work dates for the 2026 season: 

  • Melita Island: June 23rd- August 10th

Scoutcraft/Outdoor Skills Director: The Scoutcraft Director is responsible for working with their staff to instruct campers in various outdoor skills and first aid related merit badges and activities. Other responsibilities include training their staff on the content knowledge, writing lesson plans for merit badges and programs, directing the set-up/take down of their program area, maintaining and submitting camp records throughout each week, completing and submitting an opening and closing inventory, offering safety trainings to adult leaders, and assisting with duties around the camp. Experience at a long-term Scouts BSA camp desired but not required. This is an 18+ position that requires training at National Camping School, paid by the employer. Reports to the Program Director.

  • Can serve as a paid internship opportunity for Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies or other related majors

  • Room and board provided in addition to weekly salary (starting at $400 per week, may increase based on experience)
  • Scouting experience preferred but not required
