          Job Title:              Manufacturing Engineer - Internship

          Department:        Production

 

 

 

 

 

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our manufacturing team. This hands-on role involves working closely with machinists to design tooling, update CAD models, and improve production processes. You will gain practical experience in CNC machining, quality control, and process improvement while supporting the production of precision parts. 



Responsibilities:

 

  • Troubleshoot production issues, assist with CNC programming (G-code/Mastercam), and support machinists with setups.
  • Help create or update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety documentation.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze manufacturing methods and identify opportunities to reduce cycle times and improve product quality.
  • Assist with the design and drafting of mechanical components using CAD software (SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Support machining operations including milling, turning and drilling under supervision.
  • Create and interpret technical drawings, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
  • Observe and learn from experienced machinists to understand best practices in machining and fabrication.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
  • Perform measurements and inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.
  • Help maintain shop equipment, tooling, and work areas to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Work with shop personnel on various projects related to process improvements.
  • Utilize Lean manufacturing methods to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Using root cause analysis and the scientific method, investigate and resolve product, equipment, and tooling problems.

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements:

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • CNC programming, a plus
  • Basic understanding of GD&T and manufacturing processes (milling, turning, drilling).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
