Seasonal Dates of Employment: June 4 – August 15 (40 hours per week)
ABOUT THE BAY VIEW ASSOCIATION
Bay View Association (BVA) is an independent 501(c)(3). BVA is a National Historic Landmark (https://www.miplace.org/historic-preservation/programs-and-services/historic-landmarks/bay-view-association/) that currently has 444 Victorian cottages, 2 inns, 30 historic buildings, and 900 members. Bay View is a Chautauqua on Lake Michigan, offering to enrich lives through four seasonal program areas: Education, Performing Arts, Recreation, and Worship & Religious Life. Cottages may be occupied from May through October.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Communications and Marketing Intern is a customer-service, detail-oriented position that executes printed, email, and social media communications with our constituents, committees, Board of Trustees, and public; archives photo and communication history; assists with social media posts and assists with marketing and PR needs. Additional responsibilities include assisting with customer or member requests for information, works with the Director of Donor Relations and Communications to ensure a consistent, branded look for all Bay View Association printed materials and other documents, works with Marketing Consultant and Program Directors to ensure that their marketing/messaging plans are fulfilled.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Produce and ensure timely distribution of printed and emailed constituent communication: the Town Crier (a weekly printed newsletter published from mid-June through August),
- Produce Facebook and Instagram posts per requests, and using Bay View templates, as well as follow Bay View’s social media plan and events calendar.
- Assist with creating and editing Association publications
- Assist with writing and executing press releases
- Electronic file management of images
- Take photos for social media and other Bay View publications
- Distribute marketing materials to area locations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Donor Relations and Communications
Job QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree in marketing or communications or a related field
- Entry level experience with Facebook, Instagram, QR codes, live links, Canva, InDesign, Photoshop, Office 365, and/or photography.
- Strong abilities to communicate (both written & verbal), organize, and prioritize, Willingness to work collaboratively with coworkers, managers, directors, committee/club members, consultants, and guests on a diverse array of projects and assignments.
- A background check will be required.
PAY AND BENEFITS
Hourly pay range: $16.00 to $18.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

The Communications and Marketing Intern is not eligible for insurance, retirement, and other benefits. This position is seasonal and housing is not provided.
