ServeAkron, Student Assistant
The Position: serveAkron Student Assistant reports to the Assistant Director, Student Programs. This individual will help with the programming and implementation of current serveAkron programs and events as well as initiating new programs and collaborations on campus and in the community. The student assistant will gain experience in planning service events while encouraging others to get involved on campus by through leadership, networking, and civic responsibility. This position will also provide administrative help, serveAkron program knowledge, and participate in team activities/staff meetings.
Responsibilities: Characteristic duties and responsibilities of the serveAkron Student Assistant include:
- Communication: Connect with a variety of agencies and non-profits during program planning and partnerships for serveAkron sponsored events and manage social media
- Student Leadership Roles: May serve as a leader for service events such as Student Leader for Make a Difference Day, UA Remembrance Day, National Volunteer Week, Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, tabling during on campus service projects, and site leader for off campus service projects.
- Liaison: Stay in communication with service-focused student organizations about their upcoming events and serve as a resource to help organizations and students plan service projects
- Present: Contribute and volunteer at all tabling and information sessions
- Program Planning: Research, create, and assess new service programs. Assist with the preparation for weekly programs and events
- Assessment: Assist with creating and reviewing area assessments
- Marketing: Help maintain social media sites including: Instagram and any new social media apps beneficial to reaching UA students. Assist with promotion of service experiences.
- Student Life Staff: Attend all supervisory meetings, area meetings and mentor meetings.
