Position Overview:

The Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) will be responsible for helping clients secure mortgage loans by guiding them through the entire loan application and approval process. You will leverage your knowledge of various mortgage products and lending guidelines to provide customers with options that suit their financial needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Consultation: Connect with clients to understand their financial goals, credit situation, and homeownership plans, providing expert advice on mortgage products, loan terms, and interest rates.
  • Loan Origination: Assist clients in completing mortgage loan applications and required documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
  • Loan Product Expertise: Educate clients on various loan products (e.g., Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo, etc.), offering the best options to match their needs.
  • Pre-Qualification & Pre-Approval: Perform credit analysis and assess the borrower’s financial status to issue pre-approvals and pre-qualifications.
  • Application Processing: Collect and review necessary documentation (e.g., tax returns, income verification, credit reports) to support loan applications.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with real estate agents, builders, financial planners, and other business partners to generate leads and referrals.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all loans comply with federal, state, and local regulations, maintaining complete and accurate loan files.
  • Pipeline Management: Monitor loan pipeline, ensuring timely follow-up with clients and efficient processing of applications through underwriting and approval.
  • Customer Service: Provide ongoing support to clients throughout the loan process, addressing questions and resolving issues as needed to ensure a positive experience.
  • Sales and Business Development: Actively seek new business opportunities by networking, attending events, and identifying potential referral sources.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred (but not required).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Mortgage Loan Officer or similar role in the mortgage industry.
  • Licensing: Active Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license. In some cases, sponsorship may be available for individuals seeking licensure.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of mortgage products, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements (e.g., RESPA, TILA, HMDA).

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage a busy pipeline.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with mortgage origination software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred: Experience with loan origination software (LOS), a strong network of industry contacts, and prior experience in business development or sales.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
