Job Title: Youth Minister

Location: Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora St. Hudson, OH

Position Type: Part-time. 

Reports to the Rector

 

Who are we?

Christ Church Episcopal is a thriving, transitional-sized (average Sunday attendance of 141) congregation in the center of Hudson, OH. Our community includes people of all ages, races, sexual orientations, religious backgrounds, political ideologies, and socio-economic positions. We have served our neighborhood since 1842 and are looking for someone to join our team!

 

We are seeking a Youth Minister to work with our middle and high school youth in a way that is thoughtful, relational, and grounded in the life of the parish.

 

Job Description:

The Youth Minister shares in the parish’s responsibility to create a nurturing, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment for youth. This role focuses on relationship-building, faith formation, and helping young people find a meaningful place within the life of the church.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Youth Program Development:

• Develop and implement a youth ministry program that supports the spiritual growth of 

middle and high school-aged youth.

• Plan and organize regular meetings, events, and activities that promote community, 

fellowship, and fun.

• Foster a safe and inclusive space where young people can explore their faith, ask honest 

questions, and feel supported.

 

2. Education and Discipleship:

• Facilitate age-appropriate conversations about scripture and faith, woven 

together with games and activities.

• Work with the rector to encourage active youth participation in worship services, including 

involvement in liturgical roles and an occasional youth-led services.

 

3. Community Building:

• Build strong, trusting relationships with youth, parents, and volunteers.

• Build relationships with youth, parents, and volunteers to create a sense of belonging and 

community within the youth ministry program.

• Work collaboratively with parish staff and volunteers to integrate youth into the broader 

life of the church. 

•  Explore partnerships with First Congregational Church’s youth group 

and Bellwether Farm, the diocesan summer camp and retreat center.

 

4. Outreach and Service:

• Encourage youth involvement in local and regional service opportunities.

• Foster an awareness of social justice, compassion, and responsibility toward those in need.

 

5. Managing Program:

• Our Youth Group meets regularly (ideally every week) during the school year, with 

lighter programming during the summer. 

• Collaborate with the youth, families, and rector to plan a mission-trip in late Spring, in 

partnership with First Congregational in Hudson.

 

Qualifications:

• Experience in youth ministry, camp ministry, education, or a related field.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Passion for nurturing the spiritual growth of young people.

• Familiarity with the Episcopal Church, or a willingness to learn its theology and practice. 

• A commitment to inclusivity and welcome within the church community.

• Ability to pass a background check and complete both Safe Church and Anti-Racism training.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Moving items up to 25 pounds.

 

Hours:

10 hours per week. 2 hours of which will be spend leading Youth Group on Sunday evenings.

 

Compensation:

$10,000-$15,000/Year
