Operations & Editorial Intern

The Cabin inspires a love of reading and writing among the communities we serve. Summer interns assist with projects that are essential to the operation of our organization. As a Cabin intern, you would get hands-on experience working with a literary arts nonprofit, including the planning and execution of events and education programs. This is the perfect internship for someone wanting experience in nonprofit management. 

By the end of this internship, you will have a better understanding of the infrastructure of nonprofits and the administrative inter-workings that make for a well-functioning organization.  You will learn how to organize and format a student anthology that includes writing from all The Cabin's campers as well as facilitating programming to a wide range of students. Intern Position:

Operations & Editorial Intern (May- August) – Assist tracking camp registrations, collecting camp evaluations data, preparing camp materials for teaching writers and supporting Program Manager with running camps. Organizing camp anthologies, including copy editing and tracking camp anthology pieces with the support of the Program Coordinator.  

Skills & Qualifications: 

Customer service experience helpful. Proficiency in Google Drive applications and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel spreadsheets preferable. 

Reports to

Hillary Colton, Education Programs Manager 

Hours

15-20 hours per week with negotiable on-site schedule. Availability on weekdays during the summer between 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm would be ideal, to overlap with the hours in which camps are held. 

General duties for interns:

  • Assist Education Programs Manager with conducting and launching summer writing camps
  • Help manage varied publications, including copy-editing, layout, and printing
  • Assist Patron Services Manager with mailings and office organization, as needed. 
  • Provide customer service in-person, over the phone and via email correspondence

Compensation:

$16.50 per hour, paid by Boise State College of Business and Economics
