Quantitative Trader

Quantitative Strategies Group (QSG) is a NYC-based proprietary trading firm that trades firm capital only. We fully back our traders with risk capital, technology, infrastructure, and market access. Traders do not contribute personal capital.
 

Role overview
Quantitative Traders at QSG develop, test, and refine systematic trading strategies in U.S. equities. Work is self-directed with accountability to disciplined risk constraints. Capital is allocated dynamically and is expected to be productive. If results do not justify continued deployment, capital may be reduced or reallocated over time.
 

Location
New York City. Trading floor access is available and NYC-based candidates are strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • Strong quantitative background (PhD, MS, or equivalent demonstrated depth)
  • Strong programming ability (Python required; SQL and other languages are a plus)
  • Evidence of independent work in markets or modeling (research, backtesting, strategy development)
  • Ability to explain what you built, how you validated it, and what broke
  • Work authorization: authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future. QSG does not provide visa sponsorship.
     

Structure and compensation

  • Structure: independent contractor arrangement
  • Compensation: performance-based profit share on net trading profits. No salary, no base, and no guaranteed compensation.
  • NYC pay transparency: base pay or rate range is $0 to $0. Additional compensation is performance-based profit share.

    Compensation: Handshake requires a numeric pay range. The $1–$1 figure is a placeholder. Actual compensation is 100% performance-based profit share on net trading profits with no base salary and no guaranteed compensation.
     

Hiring process
Application, candidate project (for selected candidates), and interviews (in person or video). Timeline is typically 2 to 4 weeks. We hire on a rolling basis and may waitlist candidates.
