ABOUT THE POSITION

The Data & Insights Fellow will gain hands-on experience in impact measurement, data analysis, and program evaluation. This summer internship offers mentorship, training, and the opportunity to work on key projects, including participant assessment surveys, data synthesis, and research efforts. The Fellow will collaborate across departments, learn how to design and analyze surveys, and contribute to both qualitative and quantitative research. This role is ideal for students or early-career professionals interested in research, evaluation, and data-driven decision-making in the nonprofit sector.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Research & Evaluation Projects 

  • Assist in designing and conducting interviews and focus groups to gather insights on program impact. 
  • Support literature reviews and external research synthesis to inform evaluation efforts. 
  • Participate in data analysis meetings, contributing to discussions on findings and trends. 
  • Help build insight reports and presentations that translate data into actionable strategies. 


 

Qualitative Research & Impact Storytelling 

  • Collect and analyze qualitative data from surveys, interviews, and focus groups. 
  • Learn how to code and categorize qualitative data to identify key themes. 
  • Assist in writing impact reports and case studies, helping to craft compelling data-driven narratives. 
  • Support survey development using tools like JotForm and Google Forms, ensuring strong survey design. 
  • Compare and contrast findings across different programs to identify shared trends and opportunities. 

     

Quantitative Research & Data Visualization 

  • Analyze survey data and other program metrics to uncover trends and insights. 
  • Assist in building interactive dashboards and data visualizations using Tableau and Google Looker Studio. 
  • Learn how to clean, structure, and audit data for accuracy and consistency. 
  • Develop pivot tables and structured spreadsheets to track participant engagement and outcomes. 
  • Explore AI-driven tools for automation and analysis to improve workflow efficiency. 


 

Collaboration & Professional Development 

  • Participate in research and evaluation meetings, gaining exposure to nonprofit impact work. 
  • Engage in professional development trainings, workshops, and mentorship. 
  • Collaborate across departments to support organizational impact initiatives. 
  • Receive and implement feedback through structured supervision and learning check-ins.




 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Currently pursuing (BS or MS) or recently completed a degree in a relevant field such as education, statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, or related disciplines. 
  • Basic understanding of how to analyze and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data. 
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets for data manipulation and visualization, with a willingness to learn advanced functions like pivot tables. 
  • Strong attention to detail and an interest in developing analytical skills for organizing and interpreting data.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to present findings and collaborate with various teams.


 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Interest in utilizing data analysis to support diverse communities, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ populations.
  • Experience or interest in working within a non-profit setting, especially in roles focused on holistic success.
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn data collection methods such as surveys and program evaluations. 
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to data-driven program improvements. 
  • Strong self-motivation, time management, and ability to work effectively in both in-person and remote settings.
