Early Literacy Coach
Purpose The Early Literacy Coach will support and enhance literacy instruction in Pre-K through 3rd grade classrooms by providing job-embedded professional development, coaching, and collaboration with teachers. The coach will work to build teacher capacity in evidence-based literacy practices aligned with district goals and the Kansas State Department of Education's literacy initiatives to ensure all students develop strong foundational reading skills.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education (required); Master's degree in Reading, Literacy, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field (preferred)
Valid Kansas teaching license (required)
Minimum of three (3) years of successful early elementary classroom teaching experience (required)
Specialized knowledge and training in evidence-based early literacy instruction, including the Science of Reading (preferred)
Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Ability to model effective instructional practices and provide constructive feedback
Proficiency in data analysis to inform instruction and intervention
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout school buildings and classrooms regularly
Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds (e.g., instructional materials, books, technology)
Sufficient manual dexterity to operate computers and instructional technology
Visual and auditory acuity to effectively observe and assess classroom instruction
Work Environment
Primarily located in elementary school buildings across the district
Frequent interaction with students, teachers, administrators, and families
Occasional attendance at district or regional meetings and professional development sessions
Moderate noise levels typical of classrooms and school settings
Flexible schedule to meet instructional coaching and training needs
Essential Functions
Collaborate with teachers to plan, model, and co-teach literacy lessons that align with evidence-based practices
Facilitate and support the implementation of district-adopted literacy curriculum and interventions
Provide individualized and group coaching focused on literacy instruction and assessment
Analyze student literacy data with teachers to inform instruction and targeted interventions
Design and deliver professional development sessions focused on early literacy strategies
Stay current with research and best practices in early literacy instruction
General Responsibilities
Promote a culture of literacy excellence and high expectations for all students
Support district literacy initiatives and strategic planning efforts
Serve as a resource to teachers, instructional staff, and administrators for curriculum and assessment questions related to literacy
Maintain accurate records of coaching activities, interventions, and professional development
Communicate effectively with staff, families, and the broader school community regarding literacy goals and progress
Adhere to all district policies, regulations, and confidentiality standards
