Health care facilities in California are licensed, regulated, inspected, and/or certified by a number of public and private agencies at the state and federal levels, including the CDPH Center for Health Care Quality (CHCQ) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CHCQ is responsible for ensuring health care facilities comply with state laws and regulations. In addition, CHCQ cooperates with CMS to ensure that facilities accepting Medicare and Medi-Cal (in California, Medicaid is referred to as Medi-Cal) payments meet federal requirements. CHCQ also oversees the certification of nurse assistants, home health aides, hemodialysis technicians, and the licensing of nursing home administrators.

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by planning, directing, and supervising the work of the Fleet & Asset Management Unit. The Supervisor I (S I) has supervisory and leadership responsibilities related to CHCQ assets and business services statewide. The S I actively participates in high- level projects, business drills, and audits to ensure that CHCQ is in compliance with state and department requirements. The S I supervises professional staff by overseeing logs, databases, and reports while ensuring staff are trained and adhere to policies and procedures.

- Customer service/Business relationship management experience with strong interpersonal skills
- Experience supervising staff or leading a program or project team, including assigning work and monitoring performance.
- Ability to write clear and concise budgetary, inventory, or acquisition-based reports and fiscal summaries (or similar) for management review.
- Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders/business partners to support program or operational goals.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present information clearly.
- Receptiveness to feedback and ability to apply constructive input to improve work products and processes.
- Ability to foster a positive and productive team environment using emotional intelligence and effecitve communication.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time-sensitive, high-priority assignments effectively.
- Functional understanding of Fleet (Vehicle operation/function), Electronic Assets, and or Cellular/Mobile Phones.
- Ability to work on confidential/sensitive or personnel performance assignments, and consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, sound judgment in performing assigned tasks.
- Understanding of predictive or forecasting based analytics.
