Position Summary:
Weill Cornell Medicine's Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking enthusiastic, proactive, and hard-working individuals to join the research team for a 2+ years position. As a coordinator, you will play a pivotal role alongside multiple interdisciplinary teams consisting of neurosurgeons, neurologists, radiologists, nurse practitioners, and more, specializing in pharmaceutical and biotechnological clinical trials in various neurological diseases.
Your responsibilities will be twofold. On the clinical side, your role encompasses assessing eligibility and recruiting patients for research studies, managing patient study visits, and conducting various questionnaires. On the regulatory side, you will be responsible for organizing patient data, liaising with study sponsors and physicians, completing regulatory packages for study startups, and preparing submissions to the IRB. Furthermore, this role offers extensive opportunities to shadow neurosurgeons, participate in lectures offered by Weill Cornell Medicine, and attend research conferences. Responsibilities:
- Oversees patient recruitment and eligibility for industry sponsored and federally funded studies.
- Manages daily operations of clinical trials, from coordinating study visit schedules, tracking records of research subjects, scheduling subjects for a variety of clinical examinations (brain MRIs, laboratory tests, etc.), ensuring clinical trials are conducted adhering to protocols.
- Interacts with patients and caregivers about the studies, providing basic information on risks and complications or treatment, administering study questionnaires, and helping patients with questions.
- Coordinates research and clinical care for patients as needed under direction of neurosurgery administration and neurosurgery and other physicians.
- Maintains patient records and tracks adverse reactions to investigational products.
- Collects, enters, and manages patient data in electronic databases
- Liaisons between neurosurgery, neurology, radiology, pharmacy, and external study sponsors.
- Prepares submissions to IRB for regulatory compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of clinical care and research.
Criteria:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; knowledge of computers, word processing, and database applications.
- Ability to work onsite in New York City
- 2-year minimum commitment required.
Highly Desired Requirements
- Prior experience as an assistant in human clinical trials preferred
- Phlebotomy certification and vital sign monitoring experience a plus
