Northgate Youth Ministry

Summer Ministry Intern

Duration: 9 weeks (June 1 – July 31)

Time Commitment: 30–40 hours per week

Compensation: $500/week stipend

OVERVIEW

Northgate Church is seeking three Summer Ministry Interns who are exploring a calling to ministry and desire a hands-on, mentored leadership experience serving the local church. This is a temporary ministry role with significant responsibility, designed to form future leaders. Interns will serve across multiple areas of church ministry, with a primary emphasis on Kids and Youth Ministries and an optional additional emphasis based on the gifting of the intern.

PURPOSE

This internship exists to:

  • Support and strengthen Northgate’s summer ministries
  • Equip and develop future ministry leaders
  • Help interns discern their calling

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

This internship is for college students or young adults who are considering a calling to ministry, are eager to grow spiritually and personally, are open to feedback, are motivated to work hard, and desire meaningful responsibility in a real ministry environment.

SUPERVISION & MENTORSHIP

Interns will be supervised by a ministry leader who will serve as both a supervisor and mentor. This includes regular check-ins, coaching conversations, feedback, and spiritual support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Interns will be embedded in the daily life of the church and participate in a wide range of ministry responsibilities. This is a unified internship experience designed to provide interns with a broad range of experiences, meaning all interns will serve in multiple ministry areas rather than in a single role.

Primary emphasis areas:

  • Kids Ministry – assisting with Mega Day Camp, Sunday programming, and special events
  • Youth Ministry – supporting summer Bible studies, small groups, events, and student discipleship

Additional ministry areas:

  • Worship services (logistics, speaking roles, tech support)
  • Event planning
  • Outreach
  • Discipleship and Small Groups
  • Pastoral care and member support
  • Administrative operations

Optional additional emphasis:

  • Each intern will also have the opportunity to pursue a secondary emphasis based on gifting and interest (up to 10 hours per week), such as teaching, discipleship, worship, communications, leadership development, outreach, creative ministry, etc.

TIME COMMITMENT & COMPENSATION

  • 30–40 hours per week
  • 9 weeks (June 1 – July 31)
    • Interns may request to take up to one week off (unpaid) provided that it does not conflict with major ministry events, subject to approval by supervisor.
    • Required availability for Mega Week (June 22–26) and Youth Trip (July 18–19)
  • Sundays and some evenings and weekends required
  • $500/week stipend
