Claim Specialist
Job Description:
The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Claim Specialists. In this role, you will play a critical part in assisting the public by processing claims for Social Security benefits, including retirement, disability, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Claim Specialists provide direct service to the public, ensuring that individuals receive accurate information and timely assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interview applicants to obtain, clarify, and verify information for initial and continuing eligibility for Social Security benefits.
- Analyze and evaluate claims, supporting documents, and evidence to determine eligibility and benefit amounts.
- Explain program requirements, rights, and responsibilities to applicants and beneficiaries.
- Make determinations and adjudicate claims in accordance with federal laws, regulations, and policies.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in SSA systems.
- Respond to inquiries from the public, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner.
- Collaborate with team members and other SSA offices as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (such as customer service, claims processing, or related field).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex information and make sound decisions.
- Proficiency with computers and standard office software.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Commitment to providing high-quality customer service.

- Experience in customer service, case management, or claims processing.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
