Quality Control Chemist

The Quality Control Chemist provides quality assurance for chemical batches, assists with product development, and provide assistance to mixing and packaging facilities as needed to resolve quality assurance problems. Position reports to Quality Control Department Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Upon approval of production blends, process receipt of batch ticket in ERP System as directed.
  • Assist in maintenance of Corrective Preventative Action Reports and provide timely resolutions for CPAR events.
  • Interface with production personnel and promote a cooperative work environment.
  • Perform hourly quality control checks of all production lines as a backup to QC Tech.
  • Perform quality control analysis on production mixes, finished goods, and incoming raw materials (chemicals, labels, wipes, etc.) using appropriate lab equipment, established test procedures and wet chemistry. Approve or reject based on established standards.
  • Troubleshoot problems with production mixes, raw materials, and finished products. 
  • Resolve differences between standards and actual measurements on batches. 
  • Communicate issues with supervisor and production in a timely manner. 
  • Note batch adjustments on appropriate spreadsheet.
  • Generate Certificates of Analysis/Certificates of Compliance for finished goods.
  • Advise to QC Manager of lab supplies needed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain internal production quality issues spreadsheet. Conduct an annual audit of internal events and provide report to supervisor.
  • Maintain laboratory areas in accordance with established housekeeping (clean and organized) and safety standards.
  • Maintain samples in an organized manner of annual rotation, every two years for EPA registered products and every five years for FDA registered products.
  • Operate and maintain all lab equipment in proper working order. Perform daily calibrations on equipment were required and keep the record. 
  • Perform assays and active level analysis on required EPA and FDA products.
  • Make and perform standardization for reagents used as titration method.
  • Ensure all reagents used are not expired.
  • Assist to QC Manager in preparing standard operating procedures (SOP) and help set up test parameters.
  • Assist as directed with R&D and product development efforts.
  • Assist with annual inventory
  • Any other duties or special projects that may be assigned by the QC Manager.
