Beck Center for the Arts – Teaching Artist – Piano
Part-time, hourly, non-exempt
Beck Center’s Music Education program seeks a dynamic teaching artist to instruct students in piano studies. The ideal candidate will be an experienced performer and educator with a proven ability to work with children as well as adults. Candidate should expect to teach beginning level students in a range of ages.
Responsibilities:
· Lead group piano instruction for a variety of age ranges (6-8, 7-9 and adult beginner) for up to six students per class. (Classes mainly utilize the Faber instruction books).
· Instruct students in weekly private piano lessons. Instructors are expected to teach consistently during the academic year with an optional summer semester. Remaining 2025-2026 year: Winter/Spring semester (through end of May), and Summer semester (June 8 - August 14)
· Provide a high standard of music instruction that meets the needs of each individual student, tracking their short-term and long-term goals toward sustained growth.
· Communicate with students, parents, and staff to facilitate lessons and foster student retention
· Track attendance and enrollment accurately and in a timely manner
· Prepare students for Student Showcase recitals
Qualifications:
· BA or MA in music performance and/or education
· Experience teaching privately and/or in a classroom setting
· Experience performing in a professional setting
· An articulate customer service-oriented individual who communicates well with students, families, and colleagues
· Excellent organizational skills with ability to be prepared to lead weekly lessons that are educational with developmentally and age appropriate content
· Hiring contingent upon passing a background check
Hours:
· A minimum of 2 weekday evenings and/or Saturdays before 5pm. Hours flexible to candidate availability (Beck Center offers classes Mon-Sat in the fall, winter and spring. Summer lessons are offered Mon-Fri)
· Position available immediately
Pay Rate:
· Pay Rate: $25-$35 per hour
