Neuroscience Research Postbac at Yale
The laboratory of Dr. Jaime Grutzendler, MD, at Yale University/Department of Neurology and Neuroscience, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a recent bachelor's degree. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about participating in groundbreaking neuroscience research, focusing on the interactions between neurons and glial cells in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s. This role involves collaboration with graduate students and postdoctoral researchers on projects that encompass molecular biology, in vivo mouse brain imaging, and disease models of neurodegeneration.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The trainee will gain a comprehensive understanding of neurological disease etiology, basic molecular biology techniques, small animal microsurgeries, in vivo microscopy, iPSC cell cultures, and the use of software for image processing and quantification. They will be actively involved in all research phases, including project planning, design, and execution. The position offers opportunities for independent research, and the trainee will contribute to the preparation and publication of findings in peer-reviewed journals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor of Science degree is required, preferably in biological sciences, biochemistry, or biomedical engineering.
Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and imaging is desirable.
