Position Summary

The Privacy Compliance Intern will support the Compliance team in maintaining, enhancing, and operationalizing the organization’s privacy and data protection program. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, curious, and proactive students interested in technology, privacy law, regulatory compliance, and risk management. This position offers hands‑on experience with real‑world privacy challenges. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, organizational skills, basic knowledge of technology and the ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and integrity.

 

Key Program Info: 

  • Dates: Summer 2026 with potential for extension into the school year
  • Location: Mentor, OH
  • Work Environment: Remote - candidates will need to be within commuting distance of Mentor office for onsite events as needed

 

What You'll Do as a Privacy Compliance Intern

  • Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and other privacy risk assessments.
  • Support the fulfillment and tracking of data subject requests.
  • Research new and existing privacy laws and summarize key developments.
  • Track progress of privacy compliance activities and maintain related documentation.
  • Support organizational changes by identifying privacy requirements and assisting with privacy-by design activities.
  • Provide general assistance with privacy and compliance initiatives as needed.

 

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program or a master’s program in one of the following competencies: Accounting, Legal, Governance Risk and Compliance, Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, Finance, or Marketing.
  • Sophomore year requirements must be completed by program start (May 2026).
  • Minimum of 20 hours/week availability.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

Preferred:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Quick learner who is resourceful and team oriented.
