Part-Time Box Office Attendant

Job Title: Part-Time Box Office Attendant
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (W-2), At-Will

Hours: Minimum 20 hours per week
Seasonal Term: May 1st – September 15th, 2026
Schedule: Variable; includes day, evening, and weekend shifts

 

Position Summary
The Box Office Attendant serves as a front-line representative for our organization, providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role is responsible for handling ticket sales, responding to customer inquiries, and supporting box office operations during scheduled shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sell tickets in person during assigned box office shifts
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to emails in a timely and professional manner
  • Provide accurate information regarding events, ticketing policies, and venue details
  • Process payments and maintain accurate transaction records
  • Assist patrons with ticket-related questions or issues
  • Maintain a welcoming, professional, and calm demeanor in a sometimes chaotic environment
  • Learn and effectively use box office and ticketing systems
  • Support additional box office or event-related tasks as assigned

     

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Personable, customer-focused, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible, and organized in a fast-paced setting
  • Willingness to learn new systems and procedures
  • Reliable and punctual with the ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Basic computer skills and comfort with email, phone systems, and point-of-sale software
  • Prior customer service or box office experience is a plus, but not required

     

Additional Requirements & Expectations

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during scheduled shifts
  • Ability to handle cash and operate point-of-sale equipment accurately
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, occasionally noisy environment
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer and payment information
  • Resolve basic customer concerns professionally and escalate issues as needed
  • Represent the organization positively and professionally at all times

     

Work Environment

  • Active and sometimes high-volume customer service setting
  • Interaction with a wide range of patrons, staff, and volunteers

     

Employment Terms

  • At-will employment; either party may terminate employment at any time, with or without cause or notice
  • Continuation beyond the seasonal term is not guaranteed and will be based on organizational needs
