On-Site Lead Intern

The Role:
The Lead Intern serves as the on-site coordinator and manager of the Education and Support interns and Technology Intern. This role supports the Assistant Academic Director and Academic Director by maintaining daily program flow, classroom readiness, logistics coordination, and intern accountability. The Lead Intern ensures that all intern tasks are executed consistently and provides the first level of support for classroom operations, student engagement, and daily reporting.

Employment dates: June 15th to August 15th
(Dates are inclusive of our paid training period)
Academic Leadership and Intern Group Training will take place virtually from June 15–19 (approximately 20–25 hours) and on campus from June 22–26 (approximately 20 hours).
The Academic Leadership and Intern team will support the campus program from June 28–August 8 (approximately 30–40 hours per week), followed by post-program reflections and work wrap-up from August 8–15 (approximately 10–15 hours).
Travel Details:
LaunchX will fully cover and assist with the coordination of all required travel, lodging, and meals for the selected intern for the duration of the program. Interns will stay in private dorm accommodations arranged by LaunchX, with no room sharing.
While interns are not engaged in scheduled program responsibilities, often outside standard working hours, they are welcome to explore and enjoy the surrounding city. Some work or program-related responsibilities may occasionally occur outside of typical 9–5 hours. During personal time, interns are expected to conduct themselves professionally and respectfully, representing LaunchX responsibly at all times.
Responsibilities:
Intern Team Leadership
- Meet daily with Education and Support Interns and the Tech Intern to confirm tasks, expectations, and responsibilities.
- Provide coaching, motivation, and real-time guidance to Education & Support Interns throughout the day.
- Ensure professionalism, punctuality, and adherence to LaunchX policies across the intern team.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for interns, escalating issues to the Assistant Academic Director when needed.
- Maintain accountability for intern task completion and quality of support in engaging students in the classroom.
Program Support and Daily Operations
- Confirm that interns conduct accurate concern tracking and maintain at-risk student lists as discussed in your daily meetings.
- Review student weekly survey data and work with academic directors to be sure Education and Support Interns roam the room to achieve a 100% student response rate.
- Identify student behavioral issues early and resolve or escalate promptly. Be sure to update the Program Manager of concerning behavior in weekly 1:1’s.
Instructional Support
- Step in to support instructional activities when requested by the Academic or Assistant Academic Director.
- Monitor classrooms for engagement, behavior, and learning flow, reporting concerns to the AAD.
- Ensure Education and Support Interns provide timely, constructive student feedback following standard guidelines.
- Assist with student prototyping, workshop transitions, and group work facilitation when required.
Requirements:
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, particularly in managing diverse perspectives and handling conflicts with confidence and sensitivity in person.
- Community Building: Recent experience in fostering community development or organizing groups into effective networks, with an emphasis on in-person collaboration.
- Goal-Oriented and Adaptable: Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals while remaining flexible and creative in addressing challenges that arise in an on-site environment.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong ability to engage with diverse stakeholders in person.
- Organizational Abilities: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and logistics effectively in an on-site program.
- Teamwork and Independence: Comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively within a team setting, especially in a dynamic, in-person program environment.
- (preferred) Program Experience: Prior participation in a LaunchX entrepreneurship or innovation program as a student, along with prior experience as a LaunchX intern, particularly in an in-person setting.
- Must successfully pass a background check
- Must currently live and work within the United States
- Must be 18+ years of age
Target Compensation:
This is an intern-level paid position with a compensation of $20 USD per hour or the local minimum wage, whichever is higher.
