We are looking for an experienced and motivated Payroll Processing Specialist who will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations for over 3,000 employees across multiple states. This position will be a part of our Payroll Operations group based in Houston, TX and is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing, compliance, and employee support.
Essential Job Duties:
- Responsible for service quality, customer orientation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement of processes related to payroll operations.
- Process biweekly payroll for 3,000+ employees across various states, including pay adjustments, special payments, and employee-initiated changes (e.g., deductions, tax updates, direct deposit options).
- Review, balance, and distribute payroll checks and reports.
- Calculate and prepare manual checks as needed.
- Garnishment/Tax Levy set ups and management.
- Provide payroll-related support to Human Resources and employees, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Deliver specialized knowledge, propose exceptions when appropriate, and ensure issues are addressed and resolved promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to meet strict deadlines.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred; or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of corporate payroll processing experience.
- General knowledge of payroll principles, including overtime and tax withholding calculations.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Strong problem-solving and mathematical abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Exceptional communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to meeting strict daily deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Workday payroll system.
