ASHRAE, a global nonprofit technical association, has an immediate full-time opening for an Assistant Manager of Standards – National (AMOS-N)
**This hybrid position is available immediately in our LEED Platinum-certified headquarters building located in Peachtree Corners, Georgia.
Position Summary
To assist the SMCS in support of the Society's American National Standards Institute activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide Project Committee Support
- Serve as Staff Liaison to SSPC 55, SSPC 62.1, SSPC 62.2, SSPC 161, and others as assigned (attend most meetings and provide extra support to the Chairs for drafts, letter ballots, scheduling meetings, etc.). Serve as staff liaison for most Standard Project Committees (SPCs), Guideline Project Committees (GPCs), and Standing Guideline Project Committees (SGPCs), as assigned.
- Create PC websites and list serves upon request; maintain a record and provide support for PC webmasters.
- Webmaster for http://www.ashraepcs.org, SSPC 62.1, and SSPC 62.2 websites; update and keep content current.
- Attend the winter and annual ASHRAE conferences and provide staff support to project committees under responsibility, and others upon request.
- Process and assign BACnet Vendor ID #s and BACnet MS/TP Frame Types (SSPC 135) upon request - this is the duty of the Secretary/AA-Codes but also requires actions for the AMOS-N.
- Train committee members and leadership.
- Assist in development and revision of new and existing standards and guidelines by working with Standard and Guideline Project Committees to expedite production of ASHRAE's American National Standards and guidelines, specifically:
- Oversight of staff reviews of standards drafts (except those under Continuous Maintenance) to ensure adherence to documented procedures
- Coordination with Special Publications and Project Committee (PC) Chairs regarding standards drafts as necessary (includes securing approvals, reviewing galley proofs)
- Filing of extension requests at ANSI
- Monitoring continuous maintenance proposals for project committees as assigned
- Assist development, updating, troubleshooting, and maintenance of online standards review (OSR) platform, and maintenance of the Standards section on ASHRAE web page.
- Answer inquiries on standards related items including standards status, technical inquiries, and process questions.
- Perform staff reviews of all periodic maintenance Standards Committee Documents (SCDs) and send requests to cognizant TCs for recommendations for revision, reaffirmation, or withdrawal; follow-up with TCs to obtain recommendations and documentation to provide to SRS. Review all relevant TC activities for standards related issues requiring action. Prompt TCs when standards reaching the end of their ANSI approval period may need review.
- Process all publication public review (PPR) and publication submittal packages and drafts for Standards 55, 62.1, 62.2, 161, and others as assigned.
- Process and publish errata for standards and guidelines of assigned project committees.
- Process and publish official and unofficial interpretation requests.
- Provide training to PC Chairs and Vice-Chairs, including the PC Chairs Breakfast at the semi-annual conferences.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor's degree in engineering or science required.
Effective communication and writing skills, good judgment and tact are required.
Experience desired in development or application of consensus standards or codes.
Knowledgeable in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams).
