About the role:
The Purchasing Intern supports the purchasing team while gaining hands‑on experience with the full purchasing life cycle. This position offers exposure to procurement processes, supplier communication, and cross‑functional collaboration with planning, operations, and inventory management teams.
Responsibilities:
In this role, the intern assists with expediting and tracking orders and helps maintain accurate purchasing data within the ERP system. They support the creation of purchase requisitions and the conversion of those requisitions into purchase orders. The intern also participates in developing requests for quotes, contributes to basic inventory management activities, and assists with price justification tasks. Beyond these core responsibilities, the intern works closely with planning and operations to support product lines, track supplier shipping information and quality documentation, and help strengthen supplier relationships.
Qualifications:
Three to four years of study toward a degree in Business Operations, Procurement, Mathematics or other related field or Study or concentration in supply chain management or logistics.
Must have a strong background in Microsoft Office.
This role requires strong communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly to management, suppliers, peers, and supervisors both verbally and in writing. A motivated attitude and interest in learning negotiation strategies are important, along with a willingness to work effectively in a team environment. Preferred skills include the ability to lead projects within one's area of expertise and a basic understanding of common manufacturing processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in leading small projects and a basic understanding of common manufacturing processes are beneficial and will support success in this role.
