Employment Type: Summer Internship, Full-time including weekends and evenings

Reports To: Tasting Room Director, Management and Owners

 

Are you passionate about hospitality and creating unforgettable guest experiences? Lavender Hill Farm is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tasting Room Ambassador to join our team for the summer season. This role provides hands-on experience that directly impacts operations and guest experiences, and is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in hospitality, tourism, or food and beverage management. Our brand-new tasting room, serving snacks and mocktails, is perfect for someone who is eager to help a small business grow and thrive!

Note: This internship may ideally be paired with another position on our farm—such as Tour Guide or Retail Ambassador—to achieve a 40-hour workweek, making it an excellent opportunity to gain diverse hospitality experience. 

 

About Us 

Lavender Hill Farm is a premier agritourism destination in Northern Michigan, known for its 13,000 plants, guided tours, concert series, events, and our farmhouse boutique. Our Certified Naturally Grown farm offers a hands-on, collaborative work environment where team members across all departments work closely with leadership, making a real impact on daily operations and guest experiences, while surrounded by fields of lavender.

 

What You’ll Do

As a Tasting Room Ambassador, you will:

  • Oversee and actively participate in the daily operations of the tasting room.
  • Create memorable guest experiences from start to finish.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of products and the farm when answering visitors’ questions.
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for guests and vendors.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of the tasting room and outlying areas.
  • Consistently and effectively communicate needs, and maintain a log of items needing attention.
  • Conduct guest transactions via our point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain stock and displays of tasting room retail items, and actively promote Wine Club sales.
  • Set the tone for positive team collaboration and communication to support truly amazing events.
  • Assist in other farm operations as needed to contribute to the overall success of LHF.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • A student or recent graduate in Hospitality, Tourism, Recreation and Event Management, Food and Beverage Management, Business or Retail.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A customer-focused mindset, a passion for hospitality and customer service, along with a positive attitude.
  • Confidence during fast-paced rush periods and productivity in slower times.
  • Strong ability to multitask, problem-solve and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Must be at least 18 years old with reliable transportation.
  • ServSafe, TIPS, or TAM certification preferred but not required.
  • Ability to stand, move, or walk for possibly the entire shift, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.

 

Internship Details 

  • Location: Lavender Hill Farm, Boyne City, MI 
  • Duration: May through mid-August (potential extension through October)
  • Schedule: Full-time, including concert evenings and weekends 
  • Compensation: Paid internship with limited housing available 
  • Ideal for: Students and/or recent graduates in Hospitality, Tourism, Recreation, Food and Beverage, or related fields
