This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.


 

DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00

LOCATION: 3000 Arctic Boulevard


 

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Example of Duties

 

 

Responsible for reviewing all AWWU time and attendance data needed to produce accurate information for processing by Central Payroll. Responsible for entry of all AWWU accounts payable transactions into the Municipal financial management system. Responsible for all duties assigned as AWWU Travel Coordinator. Apply union contracts, personnel rules, Municipal Policies and Procedures, and state and federal employment law as it relates to time and attendance. Apply Municipal Policies and Procedures and vendor and contract terms as they relate to accounts payable, to include procurement card purchases. Provide assistance and training to AWWU staff in areas of time administration, accounts payable and travel. Provide data in support of various audit or management requests. Perform other duties as assigned.

Participate in major emergencies or disasters as outlined in AWWU’s disaster plan matrix, which defines each employee’s potential duties and responsibilities. This may include 12-hour work shifts, which may continue for 72 hours or more starting at any time an event might occur, 7 days a week, 24 hours per day.

Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences

 

 

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and four (4) years of experience in accounting, payroll, or similar work responsibility.

OR

Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline, and two (2) years of experience in accounting, payroll, or similar work responsibility.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline, and experience in accounting, payroll, or similar work responsibility.

Must possess and/or obtain:
 

  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
