Administrative Intern
The Aleph Institute is a religious humanitarian agency which provides programs for Jewish men and women incarcerated in prison, as well as religious, educational, and humanitarian services to the families of inmates. The Pittsburgh location, established in 1991 and incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in Pennsylvania in 1996, provides services in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Western New York State, and Maryland.
We are seeking an intern to work primarily in the Administrative side of Program Management and Advocacy. This person should have an interest in, or experience with, prisoner programs, humanitarian work, and/or social services. The work environment is Orthodox-Jewish, and thus requires appropriately modest clothing and accommodation of religious holidays and Shabbat; however, we welcome applications from a diverse applicant pool. The ideal candidate will be available for 12 hours a week and will commit to working for two semesters. Most work will be done at the Aleph Institute’s office, which is on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill. Hours worked are flexible and may be irregular and may include weekends and evenings.
The Intern will be under the direct supervision of the Executive Director
and will work with in collaboration with the Administrative Assistant and Aleph Institute’s Volunteer Pool on our Programs, from an administrative and program management perspective. These programs include our direct service and humanitarian work with Institutionalized Jews and their families and children. The Intern may be engaged in special projects and initiatives, and may participate in our advocacy program, as to be determined based on the individual’s background, interests and educational goals.
