Horse Wrangler
Position Overview
Wranglers are responsible for the care, safety, and management of horses while providing a safe, positive, and memorable experience for ranch guests. This role combines hands-on horse care with guest interaction, requiring strong communication skills, attention to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. Wranglers play a key role in daily barn operations and represent the ranch through professionalism, hospitality, and enthusiasm.
Primary Responsibilities
- General upkeep of the barn, corrals, tack room, and fencing
- Overseeing the health, feeding, medical care, and overall welfare of horses
- Maintaining and organizing guest safety equipment, including helmets and vests
- Leading and assisting guided trail rides
- Providing clear safety orientations to guests before each ride
- Monitoring guests during rides to ensure safety, confidence, and enjoyment
- Represent the ranch with professionalism, enthusiasm, and hospitality
- When horseback riding activity is slow, Wranglers may assist other departments, including the Grounds Crew, as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Able to lift 80 pounds or more
- Trail riding experience, including leading or assisting rides with inexperienced riders
- Horse training experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to work well under time constraints and in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Maintains a positive, friendly, and professional attitude with guests and coworkers
Certifications
- First Aid / CPR certification required (Online certification accepted)
