Role Overview
VON is hiring a phone-based negotiation and closing professional to purchase vehicles directly from private sellers. This is a high-conversation, high-conversion role: you’ll speak with a steady flow curated leads, build trust quickly, handle objections, negotiate price and terms, and move sellers to a clear decision. We need someone who is self-motivated, and can close ethically, confidently, and consistently on the phone. Automotive experience is not required.
This role is ideal for top performers from mortgage, windows, roofing, insurance, home services, recruiting, or other consultative phone sales environments.
Key Responsibilities
Negotiation & Closing
- Run phone-based negotiations with private sellers from first conversation through signed agreement
- Use clear value framing and tradeoff discussions to arrive at a mutually fair price
- Handle objections (price, timing, trust, “I need to think”) with calm confidence
- Drive timely decisions through credibility, clarity, and respectful urgency
- Consistently convert warm/cold leads into closed deals
- Create a calm, trustworthy process while maintaining momentum
- Communicate next steps, timelines, and requirements with precision
- Document negotiation notes and outcomes in internal systems
- Maintain pipeline hygiene and follow-up cadence
Key Skills & Traits
Must-Have
- Proven closing experience in phone-based or consultative sales (B2C or B2B)
- Comfortable running high-frequency conversations and staying effective for hours/day on the phone
- Strong negotiation instincts: pricing, framing, tradeoffs, and objection handling
- Ability to motivate decisions without pressure tactics; trust-first urgency
- Clear communicator and exceptional listener; can control a call without dominating it
- High integrity: truthful representations, consistent follow-through, clean documentation
