Photography and Marketing Intern
The City of Portsmouth is offering a hands-on Photography and Marketing Intern with the Portsmouth Public Library for the Summer of 2026! This internship is designed for students or emerging professionals who want to build real-world experience in photography and marketing within a library environment.
Hours: 10-15 hours per week (6-8 weeks).
Schedule: Flexible hours; weekend required.
Pay rate: $15.00 per hour.
NATURE OF WORK
Intern is responsible for photographing all summer reading and outreach events, taking candid photos around the library, and taking scheduled group photos of on-going library programs. Internship will also include collaborating on social media posts throughout the summer.
SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the direction of the Library Director or their designee.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Photograph all summer reading and outreach events.
2. Take candid photos at the library at different times and group photos of on-going programs such as language groups, book clubs, etc.
3. Responsible for photography, editing, and organizing photos.
4. Collaborate on 2-4 social media posts throughout the summer.
5. Performs other related duties as required.

ENVIRONMENT, WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT
Works in library environments which are subject to uncomfortably warm or cool temperatures. Continuous intellectual effort is required to maintain current knowledge of library resources, services and practices. The work requires lifting equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Students currently enrolled in Marketing, Photography, Library Science, or related field are encouraged to apply. Photography experience is a must and a portfolio or work samples that demonstrate skills and experience will be requested.
