Role Overview

The Mind Science Institute (MSI) is a new Bay Area nonprofit founded by Dr. Michael McCullough in direct partnership with BrainMind. We advance the scientific, technological, philosophical, and spiritual exploration of consciousness.
In this hourly consulting role, you’ll support early-stage operations and programs at the intersection of neuroscience, NeuroTech (EEGs, BCIs, neurofeedback, brain stimulation, wearables), AI, and ancient wisdom. You’ll help build MSI’s foundation, shaping systems, processes, and culture from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support.
  • Set up and maintain internal systems, tools, and workflows.
  • Assist with website development and digital presence.
  • Draft internal/external communications, updates, and presentations.
  • Support event logistics, research efforts, and meeting coordination.
  • Document organizational activities, insights, and program development.
  • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional project teams.
  • Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Independent, organized, and adaptable; strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong documentation habits.
  • Proactive, collaborative team contributor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in consciousness studies, neuroscience, and/or NeuroTech.
  • Experience in startup, nonprofit, or academic research environments.
  • Comfort with productivity tools (e.g., Google Workspace, project trackers, CMS).
  • Event coordination or program ops experience a plus.
