Crop Production Intern

Crop Production Internship

Location: Benson, MN

Duration: Summer 2026

Hours: Full-Time

Compensation: Hourly Wage

Position Overview

The Crop Production Intern will gain hands-on experience in crop production and farm operations. This internship provides practical exposure to field applications, crop scouting, equipment operation, and general farm activities in a real-world agricultural setting.

Responsibilities

Field & Application Support

  • Assist with loading and unloading agricultural chemicals and fertilizers.
  • Help load fertilizer and water into spray tenders.
  • Assist with loading and supporting sprayer operations.
  • Clean, maintain, and service application and tending equipment.
  • Maintain accurate chemical application and inventory records.

Crop Scouting

  • Assist with crop scouting activities, including:
    • Crop staging
    • Weed identification
    • Disease detection

Equipment & Operations

  • Assist in maintaining farm equipment and machinery.
  • Operate pickup trucks and/or semi-trucks to tend sprayers or deliver products (based on qualifications and training).

General Farm Duties

  • Support additional farm activities as needed.

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain hands-on experience in crop production and agronomic practices.
  • Develop skills in farm equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Learn proper chemical handling, safety procedures, and recordkeeping.
  • Build practical knowledge applicable to future careers in agriculture.

Qualifications

  • Interest in agriculture, agronomy, or crop production.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license required; must be able to lift 50 pounds.
