Better Kenmore CDC is looking for a Public Art Inventory Intern for a project themed - Keep Kenmore Beautiful
Learning Outcomes
By completing this internship, students will:
- Apply classroom knowledge to a real-world, community-based project
- Develop skills in cultural documentation, visual research, and data organization
- Strengthen written, visual, and analytical communication skills
- Produce a professional-quality project suitable for a portfolio or capstone reference
Responsibilities
- Conduct systematic field surveys to identify public art assets (murals, sculptures, installations, memorials, etc.)
- Photograph artworks and document relevant details, including location and artist (if known). Note: Depending on intern’s skills, document medium and condition. These latter elements could be a follow-up project with an artist.
- Enter, organize, and maintain accurate records in a structured inventory system (e.g., spreadsheet, database, or mapping platform)
- Conduct basic background research to verify artist information or historical context when available
- Collaborate with the supervising faculty/staff member to refine documentation standards
- Participate in periodic check-ins and reflective discussions related to learning objectives
- Prepare a final summary, reflection, or presentation as required for academic credit
Deliverables
- Complete public art inventory for Kenmore
- Photo documentation for identified artworks
