Digital Storytelling & Marketing Intern (Part-Time, Undergraduate)

 

About the Role

 

Kibo Alliance is seeking a part-time Digital Storytelling & Marketing Intern to help share powerful stories of rural leaders around the world and grow our online presence. This role is ideal for an undergraduate student interested in social impact, sustainability, and communications, seeking hands-on experience working directly with the Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities

Website & Content Updates

  • Maintain and update website pages with fresh stories, news, photos, and event information
  • Help improve clarity and accessibility of web content, including basic formatting, links, and media uploads.

Storytelling & Case Studies

  • Interview Asian Rural Institute (ARI) alumni, volunteers, and partners (via email/Zoom) and draft short case studies, profiles, and impact stories.
  • Edit and repurpose longer stories into shorter pieces for social media, newsletters, and the website.
  • Organize a story bank and photo library with clear captions and permissions.
  • Social Media Strategy & Management
  • Support the development of a simple content calendar across 1–3 key platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Draft posts, select visuals, and schedule content that highlights ARI alumni, Foodlife, servant leadership, and Kibo Alliance campaigns.

Monitor engagement, respond to basic comments/messages (with guidance), and track simple metrics.

Digital Campaign Support

  • Assist with digital storytelling campaigns tied to events, giving days, and video premieres.
  • Help design basic graphics using tools like Canva (or similar) and coordinate with any external designers or volunteers.
  • Contribute ideas for new formats (short videos, carousels, reels, newsletter sections, etc.).
  • General Communications Support
  • Help draft and proofread email updates and e-newsletters.
  • Support list-building and light research on peer organizations and digital storytelling best practices.

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student (any major) with strong interest in social impact, sustainability, international development, or nonprofit work.
  • Strong writing and editing skills; comfortable adapting tone for web, email, and social platforms.
  • Familiarity with at least one social media platform for organizations; experience with Canva, basic video editing, or website builders is a plus.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple small projects with guidance and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working remotely and collaborating with the Executive Director and a small team across time zones.

Time Commitment & Compensation

  • Part-time: approximately 5–10 hours per week (flexible scheduling around classes).
  • Remote position, with occasional virtual meetings; location-flexible.
  • Modest stipend or hourly wage (to be defined)
