Fundraising and Growth Strategies Intern

Girls of Virtue is a Florida 501(c) (3) organization on a mission to empower & equip women to be grounded spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially. It is important to bring together a community of young women so that they have a safe environment to teach them the proper skills they need to face today’s complex generation. Through mentorship, workshops, and education, we will instill these life skills.

Fundraising and Growth Strategies Intern Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifying new potential sources of funding by researching applicable grants; Initiating relationships with new prospective funders/grant-making institutions and reaching out with questions/for additional information
  • Developing and maintaining a database of relevant foundations, corporations, and government funding sources, and solicitation requirements
  • Assisting in the creation and execution of strategic online fundraising campaigns using a variety of social media and email marketing platforms
  • Planning and executing a large-scale fundraising event in lieu of our annual fundraisers
  • Researching and identifying prospective funding opportunities and sources
  • Creating and maintaining a calendar of funding application deadlines
  • Developing proposals and drafting inquiries, letters, and proposals for funding
  • Creating and managing our donor database 
  • Assisting with getting donations for our annual fundraisers
  • Learn and practice fundraising best practices
  • Provide basic administrative and technical support to fundraisers and other team members

Through an internship, you will be part of an intern class of six, all in different departments, but working together as one team. As the Fundraising and Growth Strategies Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and gain experience in the non-profit sector and interact with other GOV interns. You will also gain experience applying project management principles, participating in projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

This is an unpaid volunteer internship that you can earn school credit for. Based on your internship program, we can work with you to determine how many hours you will work and the objectives your program requires you to meet.

Fundraising and Growth Strategies Intern Qualifications / Skills:

  • Verbal communication
  • Organization
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and follow up on internal targets
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in fundraising databases

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, social sciences, or a related field
  • Successful completion of introductory courses in marketing, business, or equivalent
  • Proficient with the use of Google Workspace (Gmail, Sheets, Google Drive, etc.)
  • Prior industry experience is preferred
