Food Insecurity Intern
The Food Insecurity Programs Intern will work closely with the Director of Food Insecurity Programs to help coordinate the daily activities of PIN’s Food Pantry and Warehouse activities. This role is critical in ensuring PIN’s ability to help provide relief to our neighbors in need. This internship position is a 10-week assignment from May 27 - July 31. The pay will be $12 an hour.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
Food Pantry
o Service: Our primary service provides food and personal needs for our clients. You will have the opportunity to work directly with clients as well as understand how clients are served and how the pantry operates.
o Data Management: Track who we are serving and report demographics and statistics to our donors and community partners.
o Donation Acceptance and Processing: Donations are a major source of food, and you will have the opportunity to participate in the process of intake and tracking the volume and origin of donations.
Additional Duties
o Assist with additional PIN Food Insecurity programs:
- Retail Pick-Ups: Accepting major donations from local retailers
- Monthly Produce Market: Drive-through produce distribution
- Mobile Markets: This program distributes food and extra items “on the road”
o Demonstrate outstanding support and commitment to PIN, our programs, and the neighbors we serve in the community.
o Assist with special events as needed
Time and Location
- 20 hours per week
- This is an in-person position. Hours will need to be scheduled during Food Pantry open hours on Mondays & Wednesdays (9-12 & 1-4:30) and Fridays (9-12 & 1-3).
Desired Qualifications
- Currently or will be pursuing a degree at an institution of higher education.
- Familiarity or desire to work with or volunteer for a nonprofit organization.
- Proficiency in a second language would be greatly beneficial to our programs’ accessibility to potential and returning clients.
Pay: $12.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evenings as needed
- Weekends as needed
