Position Overview: The University of Akron Research Foundation (UARF) is seeking a motivated detail-oriented marketing intern to assist in the creation of and communication strategy for our programs. This role offers the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in digital marketing, communications, and community engagement while contributing to the visibility and reach of our high-impact innovation programming. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining experience in supporting and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship within a university setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with writing and designing marketing slicks, flyers, and promotional materials for UARF programming and UA IP technology promotion.
- Support social media content creation, scheduling, and engagement across platforms
- Help promote UARF programs, events, and application opportunities
- Draft short marketing copy for website updates
- Assist with basic marketing research and content organization as needed
- Support other outreach and marketing tasks as needed, including social media and event promotion.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program at The University of Akron in Marketing, Communications, Business, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Passion for entrepreneurship, startups, and innovation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with using internet resources to conduct research.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering thorough, high-quality work.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools
- Basic understanding of branding or digital marketing
- Photography or video editing skills a plus
Duration and Compensation:
- This internship length is based on performance milestones and is a grant funded position.
- Interns will be expected work on average 15 hours per week, between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday-Friday. Interns must work in-person at UARF’s office located at 441 Wolf Ledges Parkway, Suite 303, Akron, OH 44311.
- Compensation of $15 per hour.
