Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000 Annually Dependent on Experience

The Lower School Dean of Students is responsible for overseeing student life outside the classroom for grades K – 4 including events, recess, chapel, and socials, and for creating a culture that fosters the development of wisdom, compassion, and courage. The Dean of Students is responsible for handling student discipline that occurs outside of the classroom in collaboration with the Division Head and in partnership with parents to help our student body become the individuals God intends. The Dean of Students is also responsible for supervision and oversight of our Specialist teachers and classes and Classroom Assistants.
Your Role
- Plan and implement student life including chapel, recess, lunch, social events, before and after school activities
- Nurture and develop students to grow in virtue by partnering with parents and collaborating with the Division Head and teachers in student discipline
- Hire and supervise Lower School Specialist teachers
- Oversee Specialist teachers’ professional development, communication, meetings, schedule, and program development
- Assist in the admission process by participating in open houses, assisting with testing, interviewing, and evaluating applicants for enrollment
- Partner with Division Head in curricular programming and student life initiatives
- Oversee Lower School community service programming in collaboration with the Dean of Faith and Learning
- Act as sponsor for events including Mothers Tea, Christmas programs, and Field Day
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend weekly Division Head meetings
- Attend weekly faculty meetings
- Attend some evening events including curriculum night, back to school events, and teacher in-services
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise Classroom Assistants and Specialist teachers
- Review and approve timecards
- Schedule regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports
- Observe direct reports as needed
- Conduct performance evaluation meetings annually with each direct report
- Lead goal setting for each direct report and follow up on completion
- Assist with hiring process for open direct report positions
- Provide oversite of team projects
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Highly organized and detail minded
- Hold CPR/AED/First Aid certification (with epinephrine autoinjector supplement) or obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date
- Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer (sponsorship is not available for this position)

Physical Requirements
- Work in a highly engaged environment dealing with a variety of creative challenges, tasks, deadlines, and personalities

- Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
- Work in a traditional climate-controlled office environment with occasional visits between campus buildings, requiring exposure throughout the day to the outside elements
