Job Summary

The Marketing Intern supports Akron-Canton Jellystone Park’s marketing efforts by leading the coordination, organization, and delivery of high-quality visual content and creative assets. This role is not responsible for managing social media or executing digital marketing campaigns, but instead focuses on ensuring the park has exceptional photos, short-form videos, and branded materials available for use by our marketing agency and web developer. The intern captures and organizes content from park events, attractions, and guest experiences, manages digital asset libraries, and shares materials in a timely, well-structured manner. As they become familiar with the park’s brand and visual standards, the intern may assist with creating graphics, signage, posters, flyers, brochures, and other marketing collateral. Working closely with park management, this position helps support marketing initiatives, maintain brand consistency, and contributes to tracking the effectiveness of marketing efforts. Success in this internship may lead to a full-time opportunity with a wider scope of marketing and programming responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Capture high-quality photos and short-form videos of the park using a smartphone or DSLR camera, including amenities, accommodations, events, activities, and guest experiences.

Take full ownership of the park’s media library by consistently uploading, organizing, labeling, and maintaining digital assets for easy use by the marketing agency and web developer.

Update the park’s corporate website using a content management portal, including refreshing photos and marketing copy; no web development or coding experience is required.

Create eye-catching graphics and marketing materials—such as flyers, posters, signage, brochures, and information sheets—using basic design platforms (e.g., Canva), while maintaining consistency with established brand standards for color, style, and messaging.

Collaborate with park management to brainstorm and develop marketing ideas and initiatives, supporting strategies that are executed by the park’s external marketing agency.

Support various departments in the park as needed, including front desk operations and scheduled programming.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented self-starter with a strong interest in marketing, communications, photography, or design. They are organized, reliable, and take pride in keeping content clean, accurate, and well structured. This individual has an eye for visual storytelling, is comfortable using a camera to capture engaging content, and enjoys working behind the scenes to support larger marketing efforts. Familiarity with basic design tools such as Canva is a plus, along with a willingness to learn brand standards and follow established style guidelines. Experience in marketing, hospitality, or tourism is a plus.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

Must be at least entering the third year of school upon hire.

Minimum of two years of experience in a guest-facing or customer service role, preferably in hospitality, retail, or a service-based environment.

Comfortable using a smartphone and DSLR camera to capture high-quality photos and short-form video content.

Proficient with common computer programs and digital tools, including Microsoft Office/365, Canva, and other standard online platforms.

Proven experience in photography, graphic design, or social media growth is a plus, but not required.
