Addison Biological Laboratory, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Quality Technician to join our biologics team. This role plays a key part in ensuring our biological products meet all USDA regulations and company standards. The position supports Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and Regulatory Affairs (RA) while also contributing to antigen production and research & development projects.
Position Overview
The Quality Technician assists the QC department with testing biological products for purity, safety, and potency, supporting QA in implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures and quality processes, and aiding RA in maintaining compliance with USDA regulations. This role requires attention to detail, strong documentation practices, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Essential Functions
Quality Control
- Perform purity, safety, and potency testing (ELISA and plate counts) of biological products
- Maintain and review production and QC records
- Prepare and submit test results to the Center for Veterinary Biologics (CVB)
- Release products for shipping in compliance with company and USDA standards
Quality Assurance
- Write, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Assist with root cause investigations into deviations and out-of-specification (OOS) results
- Document corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs)
- Schedule laboratory equipment calibrations and review calibration reports
Regulatory Affairs
- Learn and stay up to date with biologics regulations and guidance
- Assist with annual review and revisions of production outlines, facility documents, personnel files, and product labels
- Participate in USDA inspections and company audits
Antigen Production
- Support the production of commercial pinkeye antigen
- Participate in general lab checks on weekends (one weekend per month or less; 15β30 minutes, paid for a full hour)
Product Development
- Assist with research and development projects as needed
General/Administrative
- Support the company vision, mission, and corporate core values in all activities
- Comply with OSHA safety requirements, work rules, and company policies
- Compile and maintain required paperwork, records, and documents
- Follow systems and procedures outlined in company manuals
- Maintain departmental housekeeping standards
- Perform other duties as requested by management
Scope of Contacts
- Inside the company: All departments at the biologics facility
- Outside the company: CVB personnel, auditors, consultants, and quality/regulatory personnel from other organizations

Qualifications
Formal Education & Certification
- B.S. or B.A. in Biology or Chemistry
Knowledge & Experience
- Laboratory experience, preferably in a biological or agricultural setting
- Aseptic laboratory techniques
- Good documentation and laboratory practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Special Requirements
Physical Requirements
- Perform detailed work on multiple concurrent tasks, often with interruptions and under time constraints
- Daily activities may include stooping, reaching, standing, walking, sitting for extended periods, lifting/pulling up to 30 pounds, using finger dexterity and hand strength, perceiving attributes of objects by touch, hearing and verbally communicating clearly, and seeing clearly from less than one foot to armβs length
- Frequent activities may include climbing stairs, kneeling, and crouching to retrieve items
Working Environment
- Duties are performed primarily in a dynamic laboratory environment with frequent interruptions
