We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Pre-Veterinary Intern to gain hands-on experience in animal care and veterinary practices. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinary staff with animal restraint and handling during examinations and procedures
- Support medical collection processes, including blood draws, urine collection, and sample preparation
- Maintain cleanliness and aseptic techniques in surgical and laboratory areas
- Provide basic pet care and animal husbandry, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring health status
- Support laboratory testing procedures and record keeping
- Help with animal catheterization and other clinical procedures under supervision
- Participate in training related to veterinary terminology, critical care protocols, and pet grooming techniques
- Handle various animals including dogs, cats, and equines with appropriate care and safety measures
- Contribute to maintaining a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines
Qualifications
- Enrolled in or recent graduate of an accredited veterinary or animal science program
- Prior kennel experience or pet care experience is preferred
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, restraint techniques, and veterinary terminology is advantageous
- Experience with laboratory procedures, animal catheterization, or equine handling is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions accurately
- Demonstrated passion for animal welfare and veterinary medicine
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
