Job Description
Located on 200 acres in Pennsylvania’s beautiful Pocono Mountains, Camp Lindenmere is a private, coed sleepaway camp founded in 1935, for campers ranging in age from 7-17. Our Athletics Program offers a variety of sports with a focus on skill development and teamwork. From basic beginner instruction to competitive sports, our athletics coaches and instructors strive to make each of their activities areas exciting, fun, and instructional. Campers have the opportunity to compete against fellow camps in the sports they love at a friendly or competitive level. Lindenmere also participates in intercamp competitions throughout the summer. Whether a camper wants to learn how to shoot foul shots, spike the volleyball, or learn to pitch, there’s something for them at Lindenmere!
Roles & Responsibilities
The Athletics Director will oversee the Athletics Program at Camp Lindenmere, including all land sports such as Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Baseball/Softball, Fitness, etc. They will oversee the coaches and instructors at each land sport.
- Responsible for overall management of the Lindenmere Athletics Program.
- Plan, direct and supervise a successful athletics program.
- Supervise approximately 20 coaches and instructors; implement the schedule and time-off for staff.
- Responsible for the safety, care and instruction of the campers.
- Facility management of the fields, courts and equipment.
- Create intra- and inter-camp competitions, tournaments and games.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Motivated to take initiative and have a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work in a camp environment.
- Implement all safety measures and enforce all rules and regulations in accordance with the ACA and Camp Lindenmere standards.
- Highly safety conscious.
Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to teach, play, coach and referee multiple sports.
- Certified coaches or physical education teachers are preferred.
- Athletic Training and/or Exercise Science background/education is preferred.
- Knowledge of program design.
- Experience working with kids.
- Management experience preferred.
- Experience which relates to the Roles & Responsibilities, preferably in a camp setting.
- Willingness to work cooperatively and independently.
- Strong planning skills; well-organized, yet flexible.
- Confident, energetic, approachable, and fun to be around.
Salary
Competitive salary based on experience, as well as travel stipend. (Camper tuition is also available.)
Job Perks
Private or Semi-Private living space. All meals are provided, as well as laundry service. When open, camp amenities are available for use during free time and days off. Camp amenities include (but are not limited to) a state of the art, indoor fitness center, heated pool, private lake, and renovated staff lounge with computers, Wifi and TV. In addition, Camp Lindenmere will support the Athletic Director’s professional development and invest in job-related certifications, including but not limited to CPR and First-Aid.
