Seasonal Vector Field Aide

Cass County Vector Control is looking for seasonal employees. Our seasonal vector field aide staff carry out a variety of tasks to mitigate mosquitoes:

Our seasonal staff work roughly 40 hours a week, sometimes more depending on conditions. Our usual work week for most staff is Monday through Thursday (3 day weekends), though some Fridays will be needed to address dynamic mosquito conditions.

We welcome college students who can work during the summer months, and we are very flexible with staff members who wish to stay on part time in the fall. We work around class schedules until the end of the mosquito season.

A high school diploma is required. Applicants of any background are encouraged to apply. Specifically applicants with a background/interest in biology, insects, pesticides, mapping, or outdoor work to help the community should apply.

Experience in the following areas is beneficial, but not required:

-ATV/side by side driving

-Pesticide handling/applying

-Spray equipment operating

-Sampling standing water for aquatic insects

-Pesticide application in various environments

-Operating trucks, ATV's, and UTV's to assist in pesticide applications

-Insect research

-Separating and identifying different species of adult mosquitoes from mosquito traps

-Maintaining records and equipment
